Accessing the Archive

The Center’s archive is in the process of being catalogued and digitized by a professional archivist. Once catalogued, materials will normally be made available to researchers and other interested parties via interlibrary loan and/or the Internet (for digitized materials). For further information concerning the Interlibrary Loan program, contact your local library or for assistance. The College’s Interlibrary Loan Department will be happy to assist with questions or other matters about the program.

Due to issues of fragility, a considerable portion of the holdings are available for research only through personal visits to the Center. Prospective users who are in the United States may visit the Archive, located at the Southwestern College Library, 100 College Street, Winfield, Kansas. Winfield is some 40 miles southeast of Wichita, the nearest airport. Visitors are encouraged to contact CBS Associate Executive Director James Sheppard ( in advance to coordinate their visits and access to the Archive.
