A working meeting of representatives of the Center for Belarusian Studies (Dr. P. Survilla, Dr. A Sheppard, Amb. D. Swartz) and representatives of the program “History of Belarus and Cultural Anthropology” of the Faculty of Arts and History of Culture, European Humanities University (Dean A. Kalbaska, Dr. A. Smalianchuk, Doc. P. Tereshkovich) took place July 9-11 in Vilnius, Lithuania.
As a result, there were preliminary understandings that the Department of History of Belarus and Cultural Anthropology of EHU and the Center for Belarusian Studies be engaged in the exploration of initiatives culminating in a potential cooperation agreement.
These initiatives include:
- Identification and production of textbooks printed in Belarusian;
- Providing access to Center for Belarusian Studies’ information resources by EHU students;
- Investigation into collaborative efforts leading to advanced academic degrees; and
- Consultation regarding a three-year plan for the formation of summer school programming in Vilnius.
Holding the next meeting and reviewing interim work is anticipated for the middle of October, 2008.
